Two championship-level high school lacrosse players have been suspended after smoking cigars. Here we go again as a “one size fits all” society!
These 2 guys spent perhaps 10 years of preparation in practicing their sport; the team they play on reached the championship playoffs, and they are thrown off the team for the final game. Their dreams and lives are changed forever, for smoking a ceremonial cigar, after the graduation program! WHY ?
Because that is what the written policy says we should do.
Someone needs to stand up for what is right. Get some guts and intercede. These fellows were doing the “manly” thing and lit up a cigar! To me, it doesn’t seem like a sin that should end their lacrosse careers. Perhaps punishment by the team and coach … like 100 push ups ! Lacrosse players do not smoke cigars as a habit as there is no way they could and stay in shape and training. This was a one-off cigar. I hope someone got some sense on this issue before it was too late.
